France confirms three soldiers killed in Libya

KONFRONTASI-Three French soldiers have been killed in Libya, officials have said, also confirming for the first time that members of France's special forces are engaged in operations in the North African country.

French President Francois Hollande said on Wednesday the three soldiers had been killed in a helicopter crash during an intelligence-gathering operation.

"At this moment we are carrying out dangerous intelligence operations [in Libya]," Hollande said in a speech. 

Suicide bomber hits field hospital near Libya's Sirte

KONFRONTASI-A suicide bomber killed three people at a field hospital for forces fighting Islamic State in their Libyan coastal stronghold of Sirte on Sunday, a security source said, and medical staff appealed for help in treating the wounded.

The bomber also wounded seven others and caused extensive damage to the hospital, about 50 km (30 miles) from the front line, the source said. Two other attempted suicide bombings just outside the center of Sirte did not cause casualties, he said.

Dozens of refugee bodies wash up on Libyan beaches

KONFRONTASI-The bodies of at least 85 people who drowned trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea were found washed up on beaches near the Libyan city of Zuwarah, a Red Crescent official has said.

Al-Khamis al-Bosaifi said on Thursday that most of the victims appeared to be from sub-Saharan Africa, though their bodies were decomposed and it was not clear when they had drowned.

The bodies of two children were among those recovered, he said.

Libya to be military equipped in fight against ISIL

Intelijen AS: Militan ISIS di Libya Meningkat Dua Kali Lipat

Konfrontasi - Intelijen Amerika Serikat (AS) saat ini memperkirakan bahwa jumlah pejuang ISIS di Libya berjumlah antara 4.000 sampai 6.000. Jumlah tersebut terhitung dua kali lipat dari tahun lalu, ujar komandan tertinggi militer AS di Afrika.

“Komunitas intelijen memperkirakan jumlah pejuang ISIS di Libya sekira 4 sampai 6.000," ujar komandan AS Africa Command, Jenderal David Rodriguez, sebagaimana dikutip dari CNN, Sabtu (9/4/2016).

Konfrontasi - Beberapa analis mengatakan tindakan internasional terhadap ekstremis ISIS di Libya dibutuhkan segera untuk mencegah meluasnya kelompok itu lebih jauh, apapun status perundingan perdamaian tentang pemerintah bersatu di sana.

“Menekan berbagai entitas politik di sana tidak menghasilkan hal positif apapun,” ujar Kamel Wazne – Direktur Pusat Penelitian Strategis Amerika di Beirut.

“Dan saya kira setidaknya kita harus mulai memperlemah organisasi-organisasi teroris ini," tambah Kamel.

KONFRONTASI - An American writer and political analyst says US President Barack Obama's vow to fight the Daesh terrorist group in Libya is an example of “news theater.”

Walt Peretto made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Friday, after Obama vowed to fight Daesh beyond Iraq and Syria if necessary, indicating that Washington is ready to take on the terrorist group in Libya.
