Negosiasi Gagal, Pelajar Hong Kong Kembali Protes

KONFRONTASI - Wakil pelajar pro-demokrasi Hong Kong, Harold Li, mengakukecewa tapi tidak terkejut dialog dengan pemerintah menemui kegagalan. Pemerintah Hong Kong, Kamis, 9 Oktober, telah membatalkan dialog secara sepihak.

Keterangan pemerintah yang dikutip BBC, Jumat 10 Oktober, menyebut pembatalan dilakukan karena tidak mungkin untuk melakukan dialog yang konstruktif. Para pelajar kini menyerukan berlanjutnya aksi protes.

Demonstran Hong Kong Terima Tawaran Negosiasi

KONFRONTASI -  Pemimpin unjuk rasa di Hongkong mengatakan, pada Senin (6/10/2014) kemarin, mereka sepakat untuk melakukan pembicaraan dengan pemerintah. Saat ini, jumlah peserta demonstrasi semakin menyusut, dan mereka menghadapi dan tekanan untuk mengakhiri aksi yang mereka lakukan.

Puluhan ribu pengunjuk rasa telah menarik diri pada Minggu malam, setelah pemimpin eksekutif Hong Kong Leung Chun-ying meminta massa segera meninggalkan jalan-jalan di kota, sehingga kantor-kantor pemerintahan dapat dibuka kembali.

Hong Kong protesters agree to hold talks with authorities

KONFRONTASI - Hong Kong protesters have agreed to hold talks with authorities but say they will keep up with protests until their demands are met.

On Monday, Lester Shum, a leader of the Hong Kong Federation of Students, said an agreement had been reached over the talks.

Hong Kong's chief executive, Leung Chun-ying, said earlier that the government sought "a sincere dialogue on political reform."

The official called on the protesters to stop blocking the streets in the flashpoint district of Mongkok.

HONG KONG- Organized crime became the new weapon of the Hong Kong authorities on Oct. 3 as they endeavored to disperse the demonstrators still massed in Mongkok in the dense heart of Kowloon. 

Dozens of tough looking men waded into the peaceful demonstrators causing fights and many injuries. Some were arrested by the police but there was no sign of tough tactics against obvious provocateurs.

On Friday evening, the Hong Kong Federation of Students, one of the main organizers of the protests, postponed a planned dialogue with city officials, arguing that police had failed to protect students from violence.
