Mahasiswa Asrama UIN Malang Dilarang Pulang Kampung, Gegara Coronavirus

KONFRONTASI -  Menyikapi wabah coronavirus (Covid-19), UIN (Universitas Islam Negeri) Malang pun mengeluarkan sejumlah instruksi pada Senin (16/3).

Pertama, Rektor UIN Malang, Prof Abdul Haris, MAg menginstruksikan agar mahasiswa yang tinggal di Mahad UIN Malang tak pulang kampung. Karena penyebaran coronavirus justru bisa terjadi di luar Mahad.

Ini berbeda dengan kebijakan Universitas Indonesia (UI) yang justru memulangkan mahasiswanya yang berada di asrama.

U.S. suspending visa services worldwide due to coronavirus

KONFRONTASI-The United States is suspending all routine visa services as of Wednesday in most countries worldwide due to the coronavirus outbreak, a spokeswoman for the State Department said, an unprecedented move that will potentially impact hundreds of thousands of people.

The Department did not say which or how many countries are halting services but U.S. missions in more than half a dozen countries including South Korea, South Africa, Germany and Spain on their web sites announced that they were either stopping or significantly reducing services.

Trump says he will invoke wartime act to fight 'enemy' coronavirus

KONFRONTASI- U.S. President Donald Trump moved on Wednesday to accelerate production of desperately needed medical equipment to battle the coronavirus pandemic and said an estimate that U.S. unemployment could conceivably reach 20 percent was a worst case scenario.

Scrambling to address the virus after initially playing it down, Trump said he is invoking the Defense Production Act, putting in place a law that will allow the U.S. government to speed production of masks, respirators, ventilators and other needed equipment.

Cyberattack hits US health department amid coronavirus

KONFRONTASI - The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), a key part of the federal response to the fast-spreading coronavirus outbreak, was hit by a cyberattack on Sunday night, a Bloomberg reporter said on Twitter.

The reporter, in a tweet on Monday, cited unnamed sources who said there were multiple hacking incidents that appeared aimed at slowing down the department’s systems.

KONFRONTASI-Brazil confirmed the first case of a fast-spreading new coronavirus in Latin America on Wednesday, diagnosing a 61-year-old man in Sao Paulo who returned recently from Italy.

First coronavirus death outside China reported as infections top 14,000

KONFRONTASI-China ramped up measures to contain the coronavirus epidemic and shore up an economy hit by travel curbs and business shut-downs on Sunday as the first death from the illness was reported outside the country.

A 44-year-old Chinese man from the central city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the epidemic, traveled to the Philippines and died on Saturday in a hospital in Manila, the Philippines Department of Health said.
