Ebola death toll reaches 6,538: WHO

KONFRONTASI - The Ebola outbreak death toll in the three hardest-hit West African countries has passed 6,000, says the World Health Organization (WHO).

The toll until December 10 reached 6,538 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, said the UN health agency on Friday.

WHO also reported that 18,188 cases of infection have also been recorded in the three West African countries.

Earlier on Friday, a man who entered Guinea-Bissau from the neighboring Guinea in West Africa was reportedly being treated for suspected Ebola infection.

Ebola hindering efforts to fight Malaria: WHO

KONFRONTASI - The World Health Organization (WHO) says the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is impeding aid organizations’ fight against Malaria.

"The Ebola outbreak has had a devastating impact on basic health service delivery in the most severely affected countries, including the ability to control malaria," WHO Director-General Margaret Chan said on Tuesday.

Since the Ebola outbreak began in March, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, the countries hit hardest by the deadly virus, recorded around 6,200 deaths.

WHO: Mali records five Ebola deaths, five confirmed cases

KONFRONTASI - Mali has recorded five Ebola deaths and five confirmed cases in the country, as the epidemic claims over 5,400 victims around the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

The latest Ebola deaths included a two-year-old girl who transported the virus into Mali and later died on October 24, according to the WHO.

However, the child did not pass the deadly virus to anyone else in the country, the health organization added.

Ebola has so far killed 5,420 people: WHO

The virus has been most devastating in the West African countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, which have seen the most fatalities with 2,964, 1,250 and 1,192 deaths, respectively, the WHO announced on Wednesday.

The death toll from Ebola outbreak in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone increased to 5,147 out of 14,068 infected cases in the week to November 9, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in its latest update on Wednesday.

The UN agency added that 13 deaths and 30 infected cases were also reported in Nigeria, Senegal, Mali, Spain and the United States.

82 Orang Dipantau Terkait Ebola

Tiga pejabat WHO sudah di negeri ini, telah berkunjung ke Mali sepekan lalu untuk menguji kesiapan Ebolanya, dan lima orang telah tiba, kata Jasarevic.
