Ebola cases rise for first time in weeks: WHO

KONFRONTASI - The World Health Organization (WHO) says the cases of new Ebola infections in West Africa increased during the last week of January.

In the first weekly increase in new Ebola cases in 2015, the United Nations health agency said on Wednesday that 124 new cases had been registered in the three West African countries affected the most by the virus. The organization said that Sierra Leone had registered 80 new cases, Guinea 39, and Liberia five.

The WHO added that the recent rise in Ebola cases was partly due to unsafe local burial practices.

Liberia diikuti oleh Sierra Leone (2,827 kematian dan 9.633 kasus) dan Guinea (masing-masing 1.739 dan 2.730).

Sejalan dengan statistik, jumlah maksimum kematian terkait-Ebola dan kasus telah terdaftar di Liberia - 3423 kematian kumulatif dan 8.018 kasus kumulatif.

Liberia diikuti oleh Sierra Leone (2,827 kematian dan 9.633 kasus) dan Guinea (masing-masing 1.739 dan 2.730).

WHO Loloskan Vaksin Pentabio PT Bio Farma

Konfrontasi -  WHO telah menyatakan vaksin Pentabio produk PT Bio Farma layak dipasarkan seelah lulus Pra Qualifikasi (PQ). Vaksin ini berguna untuk pengobatan penyakit kronis seperti Hepatitis B.

"Produk vaksin Pentabio sudah mendapat sertifikasi kelulusan dari WHO, sehingga akan segera masuk ke pasar ekspor," kata Direktur Utama PT Bio Farma (Persero) Iskandar, Rabu.

Ebola epidemic kills nearly 8,000 in West Africa: WHO

KONFRONTASI - The Ebola epidemic fatalities in West Africa have reached approximately 8,000, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

The WHO said on Friday that out of 19,695 recorded cases of Ebola infection 7,693 had died in West Africa.

This is while the figures released on December 22 showed 7,518 fatalities out of 19,340 infections in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, WHO added.

WHO Kirim Obat Bagi Korban Perang di Aleppo

Konfrontasi - Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO)mendpat izin dari pemerintah Suriah untuk memberi obat-obatan ke wilayah Aleppo. Aleppo dan dua wilayah lain dikuasai oposisi.

"Kami sudah mengantongi semua surat izin, kami siap untuk mengirimkan," kata perwakilan WHO untuk Suriah, Elizabeth Hoff.

Meski pengiriman tersebut akan sangat bergantung pada situasi keamanan, ia menyatakan bahwa pemberian izin tersebut merupakan "sebuah kemajuan besar".

Recorded Ebola deaths exceed 7,000: WHO

KONFRONTASI - The World Health Organization (WHO) says the Ebola outbreak has killed over 7,300 people amid a surge in the number of deaths recently reported in Sierra Leone.

New figures released late Friday revealed that the recorded death toll in the three worst hit countries by the deadly virus - Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea - had risen to 7,373 people.

The number is up from 6,900 cases on Wednesday.

A total of 392 of those new deaths have been recorded in Sierra Leone.
