KONFRONTASI - Mantan Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kemaritiman Rizal Ramli kembali menegaskan dirinya bakal ikut dalam kontestasi pemilihan presiden (Pilpres) 2019. Hal itu dikatakannya saat berkunjung ke Provinsi Aceh, Senin, 16 April. Kunjungannya itu termasuk dalam lawatannya berkeliling Indonesia mengampanyekan menuju Indonesia perubahan.

Turkey must pay compensation for jet downing: Russian diplomat

KONFRONTASI - A senior Russian diplomat says Turkey should pay compensation for its downing of a Russian fighter jet on the Syrian soil as tensions grow between Moscow and Ankara.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov told RIA Novosti news agency on Wednesday that the Kremlin still expects Ankara to apologize, pay compensation and provide guarantees that such incidents will not happen again.

Black box of downed jet to prove it never entered Turkish airspace: Putin

KONFRONTASI - Russian President Vladimir Putin says his country has recovered the black box of its downed warplane, saying it will prove the jet never violated Turkish airspace.

Putin made the remarks on Tuesday in a meeting with Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, saying the data from the flight recorder of the Su-24 bomber will prove that the Russian warplane was in the Syrian airspace when it was attacked by Turkish F-16 fighter jets, the Sputnik news agency reported.

Jet Tempur Yunani Jatuh di Spanyol, 10 Tewas, 19 Terluka

KONFRONTASI-Sepuluh orang tewas dalam tabrakan besar-besaran jet tempur Yunani yang terjadi selama latihan militer bersama NATO di Spanyol, bersama 19 orang lainnya terluka.

Di antara mereka yang terluka 10 orang Prancis dan Italia 11, sementara Departemen Pertahanan Spanyol sebelumnya menyebutkan bahwa dua pilot dari jet F-16 Yunani tewas bersama dengan delapan warga negara Prancis.

India Rafale jet deal needs more negotiations

KONFRONTASI-France says its deal with India to sell 126 Rafale combat jets, worth 15 billion US dollars, to the South Asian country will require several months more negotiations between the two sides.

"We are in a positive process; I hope it will come to a successful conclusion. It has progressed well," French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Friday.

Le Drian, however, noted that the deal will not be signed before the end of the year.

"It's not three weeks. ... It's several months, we'll see. But I'm optimistic," he stated.
